Description
A bold, tangy, and spicy vinegar based BBQ sauce inspired by Eastern North Carolina tradition. Perfect for pulled pork, chicken, and brisket.
Ingredients

- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- Optional: ½ tsp black pepper, ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a bowl or jar.
- Stir or shake well until salt and sugar dissolve.
- Let sit for 4–8 hours at room temp for flavors to meld.
- Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
- Shake well before each use.
Notes
- Adjust heat with more or less cayenne.
- For keto-friendly, use monk fruit or omit sugar.
- Let rest overnight for best flavor.
- Use as a mop sauce, mix-in, or dip.
