Description

A bold, tangy, and spicy vinegar based BBQ sauce inspired by Eastern North Carolina tradition. Perfect for pulled pork, chicken, and brisket.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • Optional: ½ tsp black pepper, ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl or jar.
  2. Stir or shake well until salt and sugar dissolve.
  3. Let sit for 4–8 hours at room temp for flavors to meld.
  4. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
  5. Shake well before each use.

Notes

  • Adjust heat with more or less cayenne.
  • For keto-friendly, use monk fruit or omit sugar.
  • Let rest overnight for best flavor.
  • Use as a mop sauce, mix-in, or dip.
