Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Irish cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
4. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk gradually.
5. Mix until a soft dough forms, being careful not to overwork it.
6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
7. Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf.
9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
10. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
