Description

This creamy Baked Mac and Cheese is the ultimate comfort food, featuring a blend of cheeses, a crunchy topping, and a rich, velvety sauce. Perfect for family dinners or gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  4. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
  5. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture is smooth and thickened (about 5 minutes).
  6. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  7. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  8. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix well.
  9. Pour the mac and cheese into a greased baking dish.
  10. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and melted butter, then sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  12. Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add cooked bacon or diced tomatoes to the macaroni before baking.

Adjust the cheese types according to your preference for a different flavor profile.
